Building Healthy Communities Event: September 23, 2025

Wednesday, March 11 | 4:00 - 6:00 PM

In-Person Event (Dinner & Community Building 4:00-4:30 PM)

Join the Adams 12 Five Star Schools community for a showing of Screenagers, a documentary about the impact of the digital age on youth and how to help families minimize harmful effects and find balance. Screenagers is the first feature documentary to explore the impact of screen technology on kids and offer parents proven solutions that work. What started as a personal story for one has grown into a national movement, helping millions of teens and their families navigate growing up in a world with instant access to screens. It explores how teens interact with each other using their phones, computers, and social media. This film makes parents feel more confident and better equipped to establish balance around screen time.

We encourage you to have your children ages 10 and up join you for this film.

Topics that will be covered:

  • Violent video games

  • Internet addiction

  • Cyberbullying and social media pressures

  • Brain research

  • The importance of helping your child build self-control

After the movie we will have a discussion addressing the following questions:

  • How do cell phones affect school life?

  • How does social media affect our relationships?

  • How does screen use affect children’s development?

  • How do you feel about the time kids spend on cell phones affecting their social skill development?
